Flash fiction thrive on limitation. With only a few hundred words- or less- writers are challenged to create something complete and evocative. Restriction is a tool, not a constraint. The key is just saying enough.
Recently, I explored Flash Fiction Writing Tips; Penned By Masterful Flash Fiction Writers From Around The Globe, a kindle e-book. It consists of tips and advice written as quotes by flash fiction authors around the globe and it’s curated by Karen Schauber. It suggests to start small, and build from the reader.
One exercise in the book talked about drawing a color and another of the five senses to help decide a description and exercise your imagination to begin writing. Most of the writers suggest to build upon descriptions and leave out anything that will give away the story early on; leave room for imagination.

Most of the writers suggested building around an image.
