Books I've Read

The books I read this week included recovery and love poetry, Love Poems by Rupi Kaur quite different from the other three. She chooses to speak from logic instead of pure emotion and expresses this in the beginning of the book. Pillow Thoughts by Courtney Peppernell had some of the same vibes as Rupi Kaur’s other poems, Milk and Honey, Home Body, and The Sun and Her Flowers so I enjoyed it; well written. I think I gave it a four because I was hoping that she’d come out writing about what she learned and focus on her own recovery. I read Expresso Shots and Forget Me Nots by Parker Lee, the title is named after a poem and it’s about her relationship with her girlfriend later on in the story. She talks the most about learning autonomy and self love as a trans woman, and her struggles to make her own name for herself being named after her Father who has made a bad reputation for himself and carried on his father's reputation.

I also spent some time reading a zen book, and I’ll be talking a little about what Zen and Tao are next week and dive into more of my reading including books A Cup of Zen, and the Cat and the Moon.
